Ne'Qwa Art Wins CIB's Collectors Choice Award
Christmas Cats was a first place winner in the 2007 Collectors Choice Awards in the Ornament Category. The Collectors' Information Bureau, a trade organization of collectible manufacturers, polled collectors to find their favorites in several different categories of outstanding collectibles. The public determined the winners, who were notified and announced at the July 2007 Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishing Market. Companies were invited to submit products; these entries were then submitted to a judging panel to pick the best in each particular category. The entries were judged on:
•excellence in concept •design and execution •value represented by price and quality •quality of materials and workmanship •overall aesthetic appeal
The products were also required to be new for 2006. These final picks were then submitted to the public who voted for their favorites.
Trieste of Ne’Qwa Art On Tour This Fall!
Ne’Qwa Art’s talented demonstration artist Trieste embarks every year on a tour of the United States. She shares a centuries-old art technique that is practiced only by a very few, highly skilled painters.
Known in the Mandarin language as “Ne’Qwa,” the artistic tradition of reverse painting on the inside of mouth-blown glass flourished during the 17th century, when snuff bottles were valued fashion accessories in China.
According to Ne’Qwa Art’s co-founder and head designer Jim Sexton, “Today there are only a few artist groups, living in remote villages throughout China, who possess the skill to create Ne’Qwa Art’s contemporary art objects. By bringing together the popular artwork of internationally known artists with the centuries-old skill of Chinese artisans, Ne’Qwa Art is committed to reviving this ancient art form.”
Trieste’s love for the arts began at an early age and has become a passionate part of her life. Though she is a city girl at heart, Trieste was born and raised in and around the Texas Hill Country. Her love of nature draws her back home often to nurture her creativity. “Every memory I have involves art; painting, dancing, playing music, acting,” says Trieste. “As I’ve grown up, art has been the one true thing in a lifetime of new experiences. It keeps me going.”
As a representative for Ne’Qwa Art, Trieste travels to stores throughout the year demonstrating reverse painting on glass. She will be traveling to more than thirty stores this fall answering questions about Ne’Qwa Art and its line of mouth-blown glass decorative accessories. More than 25 licensed artists are featured on Ne’Qwa glass, all viewable on www.neqwa.com.
